Travel Advisory

KEWAUNEE COUNTY, WI - The Kewaunee County Public Health Department is issuing a travel advisory for permanent and non-permanent Kewaunee County residents to further keep them healthy and safe as much as possible, during the COVID-19 crisis.
 
As of Monday, March 30, 2020, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kewaunee County  according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.  Therefore, the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is asking non-permanent residents to avoid traveling to their seasonal homes located in Kewaunee County and for permanent residents to stay within Kewaunee County when shopping for necessities to avoid possibly coming in contact with someone who may have the virus and not know it.

“We all need to continue to do our part to limit the spread of COVID-19 and by everyone limiting travel is just another way that we can all unite,” said Cindy Kinnard, RN, Director of Kewaunee County Public Health Department.  “Kewaunee County has an aging population and we need to make the well-being of these individuals a priority.  Therefore, we’re also advising that Kewaunee County residents stay local to do their grocery shopping and go to Denny’s SuperValu in Algoma, Piggly Wiggly in Kewaunee and Stodola’s IGA in Luxemburg.  Now, we do understand that some primary care physicians of our residents may be outside of the County and those appointments can be critical to keep therefore warranting travel.”

The Kewaunee County Public Health Department is also reminding everyone to continue social distancing practices when out in public, keeping at least six feet apart from others.
