Ransom Asa Moore Childhood Home
September 15, 2026
Kewaunee County is fortunate to be the childhood home of Ransom Asa Moore, the founding father of Wisconsin 4-H.
His historic log home, located at the Dana Farm, remains a popular attraction for visitors interested in the rich history of Extension and youth development in Wisconsin.
The Kewaunee County Extension Committee and staff held their September 2026 meeting in this historic home. During the meeting, staff reflected on the pride they take in knowing that their work today is connected to the University of Wisconsin and the early roots of Extension programming that began right here in Kewaunee County.
At Extension, we teach, learn, lead, and serve, connecting people with the University of Wisconsin and partnering with communities to transform lives and strengthen communities. Extension Kewaunee County connects community members with resources and educational opportunities in agriculture, families, finances, and wellness, and 4-H youth development. Through research-based education and local partnerships, Extension helps individuals, families, businesses, and communities address challenges, build skills, and create positive change."
