Outdoor Adventures in Kewaunee County
KEWAUNEE COUNTY, WI - Kewaunee County is your outdoor recreation destination.
On Local 5 Live, Kewaunee County Tourism Coordinator Jennifer Gonzalez joined Millaine Wells at the desk to talk about the adventures along the lakeshore.
Kewaunee County is home to eight County owned parks, five inland lakes, Lake Michigan, two beaches and the Ahnapee State Trail.
The more popular parks include Riverview ATV Park, which boasts 20 miles of trail for ATV, UTV and dirt bike riders.
Bruemmer Park Zoo is the County's FREE little zoo. It's a great place to picnic while visitors can enjoy checking out the furry residents that include Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Barbados black belly sheep, bobcats, arctic foxes, pheasants, deer and peacocks.
Winter Park really transforms in summer from a skiing, snowtubing and snowboarding destination to a 27-hole disc golf course.
The Ahnapee State Trail is great for silent sport enthusiasts, which includes hikers, runners, bikers and horseback riders.
If fishing is more you're thing, check out one of the five inland lakes for pan fish or adventure out on Lake Michigan to snag a salmon.
And, the beaches are beautiful. Kewaunee is home to Selner Park Beach and Algoma is known for Crescent Beach & Boardwalk.
Other fun things to do include visiting the three wineries in the County as well as two breweries. There are also a variety of cheese shops, meat and fish markets. As well as antique stores, art galleries and unique landmarks that include the World's Tallest Grandfather Clock, the Tug Ludgington, a WWII tug boat, both in Kewaunee. And, in Algoma take a stroll downtown and enjoy the beautiful building murals while checking out local businesses.
