ALGOMA-KEWAUNEE, WI - Algoma-Kewaunee Area Great Lakes Sport Fisherman and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are hard at work trying to boost the king salmon supply in Lake Michigan.
The process began on April 20th with stocking of 24,000 king salmon in the Kewaunee River. It then continued on April 23rd with 18,000 king salmon placed in the Ahnapee River.
The fish are placed in pens protecting them from predators until their release.
This is the fourth consecutive year for this process.
Joining the Algoma-Kewaunee Area Great Lakes Sport Fishermen is just $10 a year or you can attend the group's annual banquet for $40.
As WFRV Local 5 News reports, the anglers are excited for this effort to bring even better fishing.
