Bids Sought for Redesign of Pheasant Exhibit at Bruemmer Park Zoo
KEWAUNEE, WI – The planned pheasant exhibit for Bruemmer Park Zoo has been redesigned, and the Kewaunee County Promotions & Recreation Department, Zoological Society of Kewaunee County (ZSKC) and Dimension IV are once again requesting bids for the construction.
“The original project went out for bids in the fall of 2021, some new ideas were brought forward afterwards that make the project a better fit for the park, which prompted Kewaunee County and the Zoological Society to again meet with the designer, Dimension IV. They have made the proposed modifications using that input for the design, which now brings us to reopening the bidding process,” said Dave Myers, Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Director.
The new base design for the pheasant exhibit is eight enclosures within two connected modules that includes a maintenance area and an open-air space for public viewing. There is also an alternative design for twelve enclosures within three connected modules that again includes a maintenance area and an open-air space for public viewing. Both designs also have the option to widen the public areas and add a roof.
Interested bidders can view construction documents online at www.blueprintservice.com by scrolling down to “Plan Room” and clicking on the circle image to the left, then selecting the “All Public Jobs” tab and clicking on “Bruemmer Pheasant Pen Exhibit” or visit Dimension IV, 211 N. Broadway St., Suite 214, Green Bay, WI 54303.
Bids must be submitted to and received by the Kewaunee County Promotions & Recreation Department by Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. before being opened publicly at the office on that same day at 2:01 p.m.

Meanwhile, the ZSKC is still fundraising for the project, and the non-profit group is excited to be able to continue to improve the zoo with the support of the public.
“This pheasant exhibit would be first new exhibit at Bruemmer Park Zoo in decades and unique to the area. We have plans to bring in many different species of pheasant, which would draw visitors,” said Pam Zander, Zoological Society of Kewaunee County. “We’ve had a wonderful outpouring of support so far from visitors near and far for the pheasant exhibit and hope to keep that momentum going to make this plan a reality. At this time, all of our donations will go towards funding this specific project.”
