Kewaunee County Promo & Rec is Making Changes to County Park

KEWAUNEE, WI - It’s construction season at Bruemmer Park Zoo in Kewaunee.  The Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Department is in the process of making room for potential new exhibits and creating additional green space for picnics and events.

In the recent weeks, the old bear pen was demolished and the worn steps that connected the lower and upper portions of the zoo have been removed, due to safety concerns.

Another project set to begin soon is a new bobcat exhibit.  This summer, “Baxter” and “Bella” will be moved into a much larger home with new fencing thanks to generous donations made to The Zoological Society of Kewaunee County.

And, speaking of our zoo friends, the two Nigerian Dwarf Goats, “Mr.  Nibbles” and “Brick” will soon be introduced to some new playmates.  We will be adding two more Nigerian Dwarf Goats to their playground later this month.

But, that’s not all that’s happening at Bruemmer Park Zoo located at E4280 CTH F, visitors will notice a new entrance sign in near future.  The Zoological Society is seeking sponsors to help rebuild the sign that came down in March due to high winds.  If you’re interested in this project, please email info@bruemmerparkzoo.com.

“This is one of our most popular parks, so it’s important to us that we keep it well-maintained,” said Dave Myers, Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Director.

The Kewaunee County Promotion & Recreation Department is now taking seasonal reservations for the open air shelters at Bruemmer Park Zoo and other county parks.  Those interested in rentals are asked to call (920) 388-0444 for information and rates.

And, the date has been set for Zoobilee 2017, it’s August 26th at Bruemmer Park Zoo.  The annual fundraiser for the zoo features activities for kids, arts and crafts and more.
